I wanted to try out BFS for bass fishing instead of using spinning tackle. I bought two of the Gravity BFS reels and have not had the chance to get them out on the water. All of my driveway tests indicate that these are great reels for throwing light weight baits. I have one paired with a Dobyns Sierra 701 for my ned rigs and the other paired with a Shimano Zodias 7'2"MLBFS rod for 1/8 oz baits. The reels have performed flawlessly during my testing.
Great reel! My first foray into Bfs. Read the manual on adjusting and all is well. I have it on a Dobyns Bfs 7ft rod. Not one backlash throwing 1/8 oz Ned rigs all weekend. I’ll buy another soon!!!
Great reel. This is my second one. I had practically given up on the BFS stuff and then I saw the aggressively average anglers YouTube review of it and the iCast interview with the creator of it. Great design and the braking system is better than reels I have that are more than twice the cost.
Will cast a trout magnet 66’, With 6 pound braid
I have had my Gravity BFS for about a month now, and I have put it through rigorous testing across the board, I've use it for everything from ultralight (1.5g jigs for panfish and trout), to power BFS for bass with lures up to 5/16oz and it performs exquisitely under every condition, the only flaw I will give to the reel, is it occasionally gets noisy when reeling and casting, this has been pointed out by many BFS reviewers, and I assume is a known issue to the company, if noise bothers you, it could be an issue for you, but it's infrequent and not noisy enough to turn me off from calling this the best function per dollar BFS reel on the market
